AI coding assistants, as AI assistants see them

Out of 28 AI coding assistants tracked, Cursor sits on top with an overall score of 66, named in 57 of 70 answers. GitHub Copilot trails close behind at 62, and it's actually the more frequently mentioned of the two, showing up in 60 of 70 answers. After that, the gap widens: Claude Code takes third at 43, then Windsurf at 25 and Aider at 22 round out the top five. Scores swing a lot by assistant, too. Cursor scores 90 with Gemini but just 56 with Claude, and Claude Code drops all the way to 5 with Gemini. Close race up top, long tail below.
